“Jowar field at Kamti”
6″ x 8″, Oil on canvas
We went to Kamti, near Solapur last weekend for a “Hurda” party. “Hurda” is what you get when you roast fresh jowar on coal in mud pits. This freshly roasted hurda is then eaten with various types of chutneys made of sesame seeds, tamarind, onion, groundnut, dry coconut, garlic and red chillies. All this is done in the farm itself and I like the ambiance a lot.
This painting is of a farm owned my father-in-law. Though he runs a successful electrical engineering consultancy, his love of farming is what calls him back to the ancestral farm more often nowadays.
